Acer ‘Crimson Queen’
Crimson Queen is known for its gracefully cascading habit and lacy dissected leaves. It grows wider than it is tall, and its low branching produces a delicate weeping effect that can cascade lower than its crown if planted on an embankment or alongside a water feature. Tolerating sun much better than most lace leafs, it will hold its deep burgundy-red color throughout the summer but will take on orange-red tones under the most stressful heat, especially if situated in full sun. The intricate, lacy leaves take on an intense crimson color in autumn, setting the landscape afire. Attractive but small bright red flowers appear in spring but are easily eclipsed by the foliage from a distance. Crimson Queen works beautifully as a specimen tree, flanking entryways, or in limited space gardens and patios. Showcase its cascading effect by planting in containers that allow it to spill over the sides. The best color retention comes about when it is planted in dappled shade.Item Form: Gallon Container Height: 8-10' Width: 12-15' Sun Exposure: Full Sun, Part Shade Hardiness Zones: Zones 5-9
